The Southern Joint Replacement Institute Research Foundation was created to help physicians and others involved in the technological development and enhancement of total joint replacement techniques and prosthetic design. By following our patients for year postoperatively, we are able to determine what does and does not work, in terms of applied techniques and products.

A large part of the data collection process consists of our asking patients very specific questions during post-operative follow-up appointments and distributing questionnaires. Feedback from our patients is the most valuable piece of research data we collect.

SJRI's research not only helps our physicians and patients, but it also benefits joint replacement patients nationally and internationally. We share our knowledge to the medical community through publishing findings in medical journals and through speaking at orthopaedic meetings and conferences. The Research Foundation supports these efforts by gathering data, assisting in the publication process and preparing the lecture materials.
